The Marketing Landscape Has Changed – and dealers must be prepared to change their marketing strategies as well.  Today's GMAC Press Release announced that effective immediately GMAC will only approve loans to those customers with prime credit ratings and Beacon scores above 700.  As predicted, many major lending institutions have already followed suit. The consumer pool has just shrunk, considerably for some GM dealers.

In today's market, how can a dealership reach prospects that live in his "backyard", perfectly fit all the demographic profiles of his buyers, and also have 700 or higher credit scores?  Mediums like TV, radio, newspaper, and the Internet are simply not the best answer.  It's just not logical to rely on these mediums to do something they can't, here's why.  All these mediums are widely used by all consumers with 500/600/700/800 credit ratings, making these advertising venues grossly inefficient and wasteful in a time when dealers can least afford it.  Has anyone ever heard of the good credit radio station, or the section of the paper only read by people with good credit.  You get the point, they don't exist.
